Unsealing Emptiness

Chapter 83

He did not even understand how he was suddenly involved in all this matter, but he still did not give away any hints by looking at the man in rags.

‘Well, if you’re so set on going after me, I won’t stop you.’- thought Ozul while walking forward after signaling Raven, who in turn informed Blaze.

After a decade of completing missions together, only some hand signs were enough for Raven to understand what he meant. And this time, she was only informed that there was danger nearby.

As expected, Just when Ozul was about to pass by the silver-haired girl, a long electric bolt was thrown right at his head!

Ozul did not even glance in the direction of the supposedly drunk man in rags and defended against the bolt by creating a small shield at his side.

“Whatever you do, don’t ever involve me in your mess.”- Ozul’s deep voice resounded in the now silent street.

.....

He changed the shape of that shield, and it separated into a long blade that bolted towards the man.

“...You wouldn’t have another chance to change your ways, though.”

Ozul left these words and just casually walked away, not even sparing a glance at the headless body of the man that had thrown the electric bolt at him.

He did not even turn around to look on his left side as the girl stood there, dumbfounded.

——–

-A little while ago.-

Just when Ozul was walking down the street, the ‘drunkard’ man was surveying his surroundings.

His figure instantly piqued the man’s interest as he was examining the surroundings using a Magical Item which calculated other’s ranks based on their Mana.

The Magical Item would not work on any Rank-8 or higher Mage, but the man wearing the rags had precise information that there would not be any Rank-8 Mage involved.

When the man had seen the trio, he had set Ozul as his target. He had noticed their route and knew that he would pass right before the silver-haired girl who was his real target.

The man had measured the trio’s strength and knew that the two following behind were Rank-5 Mages at best while the boy in the middle was not even a Fighter.

The assassin had come here to kill the girl, but he needed a distraction, and unfortunately for him, he chose Ozul as that distraction.

The man had just assumed that this kid was some second generation of a Noble Family since he had two ‘bodyguards’ following behind him while he was as ‘weak’ as they come. Unknown to him, this was his worst mistake, and well, his last one too.

First of all, he needed someone to block his sight when he attacks, and Ozul would be perfect for that since the man thought that his attack would just pass through his head as he was not even a Fighter.

Second, because the boy also seemed some second-generation young master, the aftermath of the assassination would get even more complicated, giving the assassin more time to leave.

The assassin had thought that he hid quite well, but his intention of harming Ozul gave him away.

At the same time, the girl with silver hair and dazzling blue eyes had managed to stop the kid from crying. She stood up and walked in the opposite direction of Ozul, followed by the woman in a maid dress.

Both were unaware of the dangers that lurked around them. The girl was so engaged in her activities that she did not care about her surroundings while the maid/bodyguard was not able to sense the assailant either.

The cheerful girl was whistling as she skipped along the pavement, and the maid chased right after her.

*Whistles*

“Young miss! Be careful with how you walk...”

“It’s fine, Venessa. Let me enjoy for a bi-“- Just as the girl was talking, she suddenly saw something that made her stop in her tracks-The face of someone that she’ll never forget from this day onwards.

She saw the beautiful short onyx hair, complementing the grace of a face that even gods would envy!

It’s not like she had not seen attractive men before, but the pure confidence radiated from the eyes of the boy before of her made her heart skip a beat.

Vanessa, the girl’s maid, was also curious as to why her young miss had suddenly stopped.

The girl was still gazing at that godly face when Ozul passed by. The moment that they were the closest to each other, she saw something that forced out all the other thoughts in her mind as her mind could not even process what was happening.

As she stared at Ozul’s face, out of the corner of her eyes, the girl saw that a man in wearing rags had shot an electric bolt towards that boy!

The girl was slow in response, and before she could even do anything to help the boy, she realized that the target was actually her!

Anger and guilt started to form in her heart as she stared powerlessly at the impending doom.

‘If only I had listened to what Vanessa had said...’- The girl’s heart was filled with endless guilt when she thought of how an innocent man would die due to her.

But all these thoughts flashed by her mind in just a few milliseconds.

Even her maid and the hidden bodyguard had realized the danger, but they did not have enough time to make a move.

They all thought that the Lightning Bolt would instantly kill the kid and hit the silver-haired girl since they did not sense any Mana from him.

However, just the next second, they were dumbfounded when the kid had some black liquid come out of his skin and form a shield at his side!

The Lightning Bolt just hit the weird ‘shield’ and dispersed as if it was nothing! The Rank-7 Mage hidden in the shadows stood there surprised, noticing that the kid had stopped a Rank-7 Spell without even batting an eye!

“Whatever you do, don’t ever involve me in your mess.”-

Hearing his voice, which seemed ethereal, the silver-haired girl again had butterflies in her stomach.

She just stood there looking at the unbothered face of his that did not seem to express even a bit of anger, but his words still brought about the pressure to whoever heard him.

Everyone now had their attention on this incident when the boy before her said;

“...You wouldn’t have another chance to change your ways, though.”-

The silver-haired girl did not even care what his words meant and just gaped at the still cold face. She totally ignored how Ozul changed the Ball of Purity into a long blade and sliced that assassin’s head.

When she had heard the dialogue, for some reason, she felt as if it was the coolest thing that she had heard in her life.

Her pure heart did not even register the fountain of blood that spurted out of the now headless assassin.

The silver-haired girl only got out of her fantasies when Ozul had walked away in the distance. Only then she realized that she even forgot to give thanks to her savior.

“Wai-”

The silver-haired girl was just about to run after Ozul when she was interrupted by her maid and the Rank-7 Mage, who hid in shadows.

Both of them were worried sick since they knew that they wouldn’t be able to help her at all, and it may lead to her death!

How would they even begin to answer their Masters that someone just killed their Young Miss in front of them!?

“Young Miss! Are you fine?! Does it hurt anywhere?!...”

“You’re not afraid, are you?...”

The maid, Vanessa, started to bombard her with questions as the girl only helplessly stared at the back of Ozul.

The Rank-7 Mage, though, stayed on his guard to see if there were any other assassins nearby. Only when he had confirmed that no one was there did he approached the headless body to examine him.

He was again shocked out of his mind when he noticed the clean-cut on the assassin’s neck. Just how strong was that boy to be able to kill a Rank-7 Mage with only one move?!

“I will have to search his background.”- The Rank-7 bodyguard muttered under his breath. However, he could not leave right now since his Young Miss had just suffered from an assassination.

“I’m fine Vanessa, calm down!”- The silver-haired girl was still trying to calm her maid so she could go after the boy.

“It’s all my fault, Miss Clara. You can punish me in any way you want.”- The Rank-7 Mage said with his head bowed in shame. He was there to protect her, but all he could do in the face of danger was stare! There was nothing more embarrassing than that for him!

“Raise your head, Sir Henry. It’s not your fault. I should have been more careful.”- The silver-haired girl, now named Clara, anxiously said when she saw Henry bowing his head.

Only a few minutes later, when Clara had the time to breathe, did she realize that the boy who had made her heart skip a beat was long gone!

“I will surely find you!”- Clara muttered under her breath, but Vanessa and Henry were confused as to what she had meant by this.

Clara then turned towards the duo and started reprimanding them;

“It’s all because of you! See, now that hands- *cough* the brave man who saved my life has left, and I couldn’t even thank him...”
