My Goalkeeping System

Chapter 157 It's Up To The Board

Dave was chilling in the living room now after having his breakfast as Emilia had gone upstairs to get ready to start heading to wherever the stamina was taking place.

The goalkeeper was watching transfer news on the television trying to see if he could pick up anything relating to him or Unique FC but so far he had picked up nothing, maybe because they were focusing mainly on Europe\'s major leagues.

They arrived home by 9:10 AM and it took Emilia to finish what she was doing in the kitchen. Right now the time was 11:45 AM which meant that she was going to be coming down the stairs anytime soon.

"And that\'s all for football transfer updates."

"So much for transfer updates." The goalkeeper said before turning his gaze away from the screen.

<Maybe there aren\'t any updates on you and the club yet>

"Yeah, maybe." He muttered.

Just then, Emilia began to make her way down the staircase.

She was wearing a black dress that seemed to be sleeveless but on a closer look, it wasn\'t, the sleeves were just made of nets that seemed to be invisible until you got a closer look.

The dress had small touches of pink on it and to go with the dress she was putting on a pair of black heels.

Dave kept his gaze on her until she stepped down from the staircase and made his way to her.

"You look…..great," Dave said as soon as she stopped in front of him.

"Thanks." She said with a smile before turning her back to show him the unfinished zipping on her dress. "Can you help me? I tried getting it on my own but…."

"Sure," Dave said before he quickly got up from the couch and zipped the dress for her.

"Thank you." She said,

"Don\'t mention it." The goalkeeper said before sitting back on the couch.

"I guess I should start going then." She said before turning her gaze to the door.

"Do you want me to drive you there?" He asked just before she could take a step toward the door.

"Um….yeah, if you don\'t mind." She said,

"I wouldn\'t have asked if I did mind." He said before picking up his car keys and getting up from the couch.

_______ _______

Dave had dropped her off at the destination and since he was going to pass the hospital on his way back, he decided to stop by and pay her a visit.

Emma was busy looking at the sky through the window when the door was opened for Dave to enter the room holding a pack of roses and some other thing in a case.

"Hey, girlfriend." The goalkeeper said with a smile on his face as soon as he entered the room.

"Dave." She said with a smile on her face.

"How\'s my girlfriend doing?" He said, walking closer to her.

"Hey, I told you to stop calling me that, it\'s fiancee now or wife to be or just wife, doesn\'t this ring mean anything to you?" She said before raising the hand on which she had the ring.

"Okay, here you go fiancee." He said before handing her the flowers and the other thing in a case.

"So you decided to be a gentleman and bring me flowers this time." She said before taking a sniff from the flowers. "And a chocolate bar too, is it valentine\'s already?" She asked after opening the case.

"Valentine\'s is a special day to celebrate love, it\'s not the only day to celebrate it." The goalkeeper replied.

"You\'re so sweet." She said before dropping the roses and chocolate bar beside her. "I\'m guessing Emilia has already left for the seminar."

"Yeah, I just dropped her off."

"Okay, hope you guys are coming along well?"

"Of course, I wouldn\'t have any problem coming along with someone who looks like you and mostly behaves like you." The goalkeeper said.

"That\'s good to hear."

_______ _______

After spending about one hour with Emma, the goalkeeper made his way out of the hospital but he didn\'t go home, instead he went to see his best friend as he had a few things he wanted to talk to him about.

He met up with Mrs. Smith upon entering the house and after that, he made his way to Mateo\'s room.

"What? Liverpool is interested in you too?" The goalkeeper was quite surprised to hear that from the winger.

<I don\'t think it\'s really something to be surprised about, he has been a phenomenal player this season and any team that has been keeping tabs on him would like to have him in their squad>

"They are not the only ones, Sevilla and Atletico Madrid too," Mateo said. "But they haven\'t submitted any offer to the club yet."

"And Aston Villa is still in the race right?" Dave asked.

"Yeah, but I don\'t think I\'ll be going to them anymore, If I had to choose from the current clubs showing interest it would be between Liverpool and Atletico Madrid, it would be my first big move and my first ever move." The winger expressed.

"I see, a big club move huh," Dave said.

"What about you Dave? Have any clubs shown interest in you?"

"Yeah, two clubs."

"Wow, which clubs are those?" Mateo asked.

"Benfica wants me on a loan transfer, they\'ve put up a good amount of money that I\'m sure the board is finding hard to reject, and then there\'s Frankfurt who wants me on a full transfer move." The goalkeeper expressed.

"Benfica wants you on a loan transfer and if the board says yes, you\'ll be moving to the Portuguese league next season."

"And I don\'t want that to happen." He said.

\'I still have to call my dad.\' He said inwardly.

"Yeah, I can tell but I don\'t think the board will say yes to it if they want what\'s best for the club, and by that I mean titles, they wouldn\'t send you off on some loan transfer."

"I hope so."

"What about Frankfurt, what do you think about them, would you say yes whenever they make a bid?" The winger asked.

"I like the club and would love to accept a move there, however, we fought so hard to qualify for the conference league next season, I want to be part of it with Unique FC and I\'ll be glad if you\'ll be here too." The goalkeeper said.

"I know what you\'re talking about, Dave, I want to play the conference league with Unique FC, I really do but if any of these clubs submit their bids and the club says yes, I don\'t think I\'ll be able to say no to the move, especially if it\'s Liverpool or Atletico Madrid," Mateo said. "It\'s all up to the board, but I think there\'s a high chance that I\'ll be leaving Bilbeth at the start of this season."

<The departure of Mateo Smith shall leave a big hole in Unique FC>

\'No mistake.\'
