Chapter 404 404: Welcome To Te Boreas IV

Chapter 404 404: Welcome To Te Boreas IV

The main quest that he had received had asked him to pick one of out of a couple of options to start a quest line. At the very least that meant he wont be flying blind within this city and he would at least have a goal to work towards. He had to either join the adventurer\'s guild, the militia, become a craftsman or become a criminal.

He had to at least know what that entails, so perhaps the first thing to do here would be to find a familiar pub. But that was easier said than done, Cole was now in the city and he could see the scope of it for himself. The city had three levels, with buildings and walkways and bridges stretching high into the sky casting multiple shadows over the main road.

People of all works and races, literally! Were all just milling about doing their own thing. However the moment Cole stepped into the city looking like a lost puppy, he was swarmed on all sides, hawkers, vendors, a few pickpockets, mast of them children. He remained calm, as everyone tried to get him to buy what they were selling.

A trio of men pushed the people that were clamoring around him aside as they came to his \'rescue\' Cole idly noted the guard that let him in shaking his head a little ways off. Almost as if he was pitying Cole, the gesture made Cole focus on the three that were busy welcoming him to the city and warning off the rest of the riffraff that attempted to hang on to Cole\'s coat.

He also noticed that all three men were slowly leading him away from people, through alleyways as they asked him what he was doing here and explained to him the magnificence of the city of Te Boreas, a city that was home to a hundred million legal residents, and about 30 million more undocumented.

That was the size of some governments back on? earth, whole countries. It was enough to give Cole an idea of the kind of scope the city held. This city....this fucking city was the size of a country. Apparently it takes months on a rather fast Animech to get from one end of the city to the other.

It was a marvel none the less,? and Cole enjoyed the tour, and the information that came with it. His would be assailants were surprisingly helpful as they told him everything he wanted to know, and many more things that he also didn\'t know. Luckily for him Bob\'s inn was rather famous in the city, especially within the slums and low income areas, they gave him directions, the only problem…..it was on the other side of the city.

To get there Cole needed special permit to use the city\'s teleportation pads or their Mana-rail, a budding magical subway train system that runs under the city. But still guns don\'t work here, it was rather annoying for Cole. But in the end his \'saviors\' had finally taken him to a rather isolated place. Their change in character was quick as all of a sudden the one who had his hand over Cole\'s shoulder dragged him to the side and smashed his back against the alley wall.

Cole let out a grunt that was equal parts annoyance and equal parts surprise. His \'new friends\' thought it was pain, which was why they did not notice that Cole did not even react when one of them sunk their fist into his stomach. To Cole it felt like...nothing. One of them brought our a dirty rusted knife that had seen better days and held it against his cheek.

"Empty your inventory of everything valuable Mr. Aspirant of the system! Come on! Fork it out, all your coins! don\'t waste our time." Cole was surprised, he thought he had hid it so well….but then he remembered. There was an awareness aspirants had whenever they were around or met Denizens or NPCs from back when this was still just a game. They too had something similar and could tell he was an aspirant.

"Well I wouldn\'t want to waste your time, but I don\'t have any money on me and you punch like a bitch!" the Denizen with the dirty knife growled as he stabbed it into Cole\'s neck. The blade shattered, much to not just his amazement but also that of Cole\'s. skin and bones as hard as diamonds, the pinnacle of power thew body could achieve...

"D-Diamond rank!"

One of them whispered as he turned around without fail to run away, only to run into a hooded man. The thug stumbled backwards, shocked as he looked down at his stomach to see a spot of blood slowly spreading, Cole barely caught the flash of the knife/dagger the man had used before it vanished into the folds of his hooded coat.

The other two ran away, but by this point Cole was no longer paying them any mind. There was a new predator in this alley, and for some reason Cole felt like he was the one being hunted.

"Who are you? What do you want?" Cole asked as he straightened his posture, the crazy scientist persona he was trying to cultivate vanishing behind the curtains of his mind as Cole Raen Father made his presence known.

"My name is Azrael Cole son of Night... and as for what I want, it\'s very simple really. I have come for your head...because the system wills it SO! NOW DIE!"

The man rushed at Cole, his body spilling shadows into his surrounding as he vanished and reappeared behind Cole, his knife digging For Cole\'s ribs as [Gravity] was utilized and Cole blasted him backwards and away from him. Cole summoned [Black Malakai] and pointed the sword at the hooded man who\'s red eyes were all he could see.

"If the system sent you….then it is sorely underestimate me! and overestimating you kid, So how about YOU DIE INSTEAD!"
