Cultivation Through Artifacts

Chapter 149: A Mistake

However, this deed didn’t come without a price as her Mirror Sight vanished from her left eye and blood began to flow down from the corner of her eyes ever so slowly.

‘…’

Spectators all around the globe were silent as no one would have expected this outcome. Well, they did thought she will win, but never would have expected she will struggle this much.

First Theon and now Khal. Both under her Stage cornered her and forced her to use her ace not once but twice!

She, who was on the Fifth Cultivation Stage, she who should have been able to kill both with relative easily, she shouldn’t have struggled this much.

Was she that weak as a Cultivator or were those two exceptionally strong?

At this moment, many thought about the same thing which surprised them quite a bit; were Natural Born Cultivators really as strong as they have first belived?

This question lingered in many minds around the Southern Continent, but unfortunately, none were sure how to answer it.

“This is complete b*llshit! Her powers are simply overpowered! No way in hell this is how it ends!” Connor cursed out loud as he felt the way Khal died was unfair and unjust.

Yes, he did die through a battle where he didn’t put shame on Moon Academy’s reputation and even increased that, but he felt his battle was simply outrageous!

Against a heaven-defying Secret Art, a Domain that restricted Cultivators strength and a Talent that can copy any Talent and Art… Just how could have he won?

He didn’t have a chance at all!

Oh, wait. He did have one, but he missed it by going for the weapon instead of the head!

The thought he could have won angered Connor beyond belief but was almost instantly calmed down by Jas’s calm gaze from the other side of the table.

The gaze he held now didn’t hold any remorse or anger, but instead insane calmness that was unnatural in this situation. It was almost like he did not care about Khal’s, one of Moon Academy’s greatest student’s death at all!

The rest around him was nowhere far from his thoughts either as they held a similar expression as his too.

Jane, Scarlett, Raffin, Dorothea, and many others stared at the screen like they couldn’t admit the harsh truth that Khal truly died.

“Let’s continue to watch the tournament and wait for the announcements,” said Jas in a calm voice, causing all the teachers to nod their heads slowly.

“Hahaha! That bastard finally died! Haha, deserved really well!” Alde seemed to be on cloud nine as he laughed merely the moment Seila killed Khal.

“He deserved to be killed! Damn, he should have died way before the tournament, tsk,” exclaimed Alde with a bit of a sour expression as he regretted a bit it was not him who killed Khal.

“Well, never regret something you can’t change, right? I should instead think of a way to reward that girl… Yeah, that’s what I should do it!”

Without wasting any more time Alde stood up and left his room, closing the behind him exceptionally gently.

Inside a room, Nate and Liza were staring at the screen with blank expressions, none of them knowing what they should say.

They watched Khal’s fight from start to end, and even though they tried to forget about the fact participants could die, they were slapped right back into reality once they saw how Khal’s body was engulfed with the golden light, evaporating his body into smaller fragments than dust in a split second!

And the slap was nothing they could have expected as it was harder and way more painful than a sword pierced into their hearts!

Especially Liza. Her eyes were so hollow that it was frightening, while the next moment her body began to leak a terrifying presence Nate hardly seen from Cultivators from the same Cultivation Stage as her!

“What is that girl’s name? Which Academy is she from?” asked Liza in a calm tone, yet her gaze flashed with ice coldness as she started at Seila’s figure on the screen.

Nate obviously understood the reason for her question, but no matter how much he wanted to tell her he knows that would be the worst option.

Hence he shook his head and said, “I do not know.”

“I see…” standing up abruptly without waiting for Nate to finish his sentence, Liza left the room, slamming the door behind her powerfully.

Watching as the clock and several paintings on the walls shook from the tremor while the doors handle was frozen with ice jade, Nate sighed and took out the piece of paper he held all this time.

After thinking for a moment, Nate sighed and opened it, and began to read the context of it.

However, when he reached its end, his face was extremely stiff while his eyes flashed with shock and alarm.

Taking out a small capsule from his pocket that was given to him together with the letter, Nate sighed and whispered, “And you want me to do something that terrifying as that? Even though we knew each other only for a month or even less than that?”

“You simply ask the impossible from me Khal.”

Sighing once again but this time a level deeper, Nate raised his eyes onto the ceiling above and leaned back into his chair, seemingly troubled over several things.

And after pondering for minutes, Nate closed his eyes and nodded, seemingly decided on what he should do next.

“But maybe I can do something about it…”

“Where is Rubie? My Beast? Is she here too?” Khal’s worried expression could be heard in the huge hall, causing many to turn their head in his direction.

When Madam Snow heard Khal’s question confusion flashed in her eyes and asked, “Beast? You mean your summ-“

“She is not my summon, she is my companion. She was born from an egg as I brought her away from Moon Mountain from a nest.”

“A Tamed Beast?” Madam Snow seemed surprised to discover that Rubie was not Khal’s summon which was only obvious.

Because she worked behind the stage to make sure everything went perfectly smooth, she didn’t have the chance to see Khal fight and find out Rubie was not his summon.

Thus, she raised her notebook and after typing a few things on it her complexion changed, and said abruptly, “Please wait for a second here.”

Walking away with wide strides, causing Khal and Logan to look at each other in confusion, unknowing what was happening.

Sometime later, Madam Snow appeared once again, but this time Master Adam was also on her side.

“So? What was this abrupt matter you had to drag me all the way here? I hope it’s not meaningless, cause if yes…” Master Adam crossed his arms before his chest, starting at Madam Snow with a stern gaze.

“Sir, please look at this feed. Both of you too,” said Madam Snow to Master Adam, Logan, and Khal and waved her hand, putting a screen into the air for the three to see.

On the screen, the area where Khal previously fought could be seen, with a sole tree in the very center. And exactly on this tree’s top, a bird in a red color could be seen, making Khal’s eyes widen right away!

“It’s Rubie!”

“Rubie?” asked Master Adam, seemingly confused by Khal’s statement but his suspicion was immediately answered by Madam Snow.

“It seems that Ruby Beast is not his summon but was tamed. Simply, that bird is his Tamed Beast and was brought into the tournament together with him.”

“What?” realizing the weight behind this, Master Adam’s face changed, and shifted his gaze at Khal, “And why didn’t you tell us this important piece of information? You should have told us that you have a Tamed Beast!”

“I mean, you didn’t tell me to do so.” frowned Khal, ignoring the fact he was talking at a Ninth Stage Cultivator.

“I…” Master Adam was about to say something when he suddenly realized Khal had a point. They informed neither him nor any participants about this, but not because they forgot to say it, but simply because they had no such rules that prohibited others from bringing Tamed Beasts.

Taking a moment of silence before sighing, Master Adam glanced at Madam Snow and said, “Refresh the number of participants and the marks on the map. Make sure the rest of the participants can see that Beast’s location on the map. Also, give a live feed for spectators to see her whereabouts and also what she is doing. I doubt she will be able to win, but as she is partly Khal’s power, he is qualified to remain in the game.”

“What? But Sir, that’s not ch…”

“Just do what I said and don’t ask any useless questions. The sooner the better as we can avoid unnecessary ruckus in the future. I will personally explain everyone else once the tournament ends.” waved his hand Master Adam and without saying anything else turned around, leaving the shocked Madam Snow behind together with Logan and Khal who seemed to have the same expressions too!
