The God Virus

Chapter 378 For Her

"But has he not withdrawn from the public eye since that day? Why would he appear now?" A suspicious person asked while furrowing his brows. He suspected there to be a particular reason for Virus’s appearance today.

"No idea bro, no idea. My only guess is that since this monster seems too overpowered for the current humanity, he has appeared to shield us from it. Since he’s, you know... like the protector of the Earth." Replied a zealous netizen.

Meanwhile, on the site of the battle, once more, Virus shot toward the fallen body of the Plant Kraken as he sent one punch after another directly to its head.

Bam! Bam! Bam!...

Now that he had broken through, after concentrating the internal energy that had gone through a qualitative change on his fists, they were so fatal that with each passing punch, a large section of the beast’s head would cave in. This resulted in a terrifying yet gory scene to be displayed before the eyes of the viewers.

This process continued for some time, until finally, after having successfully landed many fists on the squirming creature, all of a sudden, he stopped entirely.

Then, brandishing his sheathed sword again, he simply sent three cuts on the sorry figure of the creature.

Swish! Swish! Swish!

As a result, two of the slashes promptly separated the remaining tentacles from the beast’s physique while the last one directly divided its head into two equal parts.

Just like that, the Plant Kraken was at last... dead.

Now that the beast’s yelps of agony had stopped, a deep silence descended upon the area. The same situation was taking place in every location and house that was watching this frightening yet relieving sight. A dominating silence.

In the meantime, having confirmed its death, Virus continued staring at the unmoving carcass of the beast for what felt like an eternity. Of course, it only felt like an eternity to Virus’ horrifyingly fast mind while to the rest of the world, only a second had gone by when the Dark Savior started moving again before vanishing from their sight once more.

...

’To pinpoint her exact location, I need to activate that.’ Thought Virus to himself while standing in front of a particular wreckage.

Simultaneously, beneath the debris, within the spinal cord of a certain motionless body, unnoticeable changes started to take place.

And these changes, of course, displayed themselves in Virus’ line of sight.

[WARNING! WARNING! No signs of breathing, brain activity, or heart beating detected from the Host...]

[The Host has been confirmed to be dead.]

Seeing the last line of report from the communication device he had secretly implanted within the spinal cord of the Chinese beauty, the last rays of hope that she might’ve somewhat survived vanished from Virus’ mind. Hu Yuexin was gone.

Still, he didn’t falter for even a single second longer as he charged to the pinpointed location he was sensing from the device.

Bang! Bang! Bang~...

Just like that, he punched, grabbed, and threw anything that was obstructing his path away.

And it took around two minutes before he finally reached the pinpointed spot as the bloody corpse of a certain beauty revealed itself in front of him.

Yet as expressionless as ever, he gently lifted her already broken body before princess carrying her to a clean surface.

Then putting her down with a dark face, his unique awareness was instantly released as it began examining every part of her cold and wounded corpse.

’Indeed, I can detect no signs of brain activity, heartbeat, or breathing. She’s truly dead now. I was still too late.’ He concluded casually with no emotion passing through his eyes. He was calm to a terrifying extent.

The prospect of resurrecting her didn’t even cross Virus’s mind. Because even in the far future, after a certain duration passes from the death of a person, resurrection would be impossible.

That was due to an unknown phenomenon that mankind could only connect with the so-called soul which even they had difficulties comprehending. The unknown territory of the soul.

Of course, the current Hu Yuexin might still be resurrectable since not much of time had passed from her death. Her soul might just still be attached to her body. Just maybe.

Unfortunately, what made her resurrection impossible was the fact that Virus was still incapable of producing the technology required for the resurrection of the recently dead. And by the time he successfully builds the relevant piece of technology which was many levels higher than his currently accessible level of production, Hu Yuexin’s soul would long have departed from her body.

And considering doing the traditional current medical resuscitation methods, Virus didn’t even bother himself. Because for one, she had already stopped breathing for too long, and... her body was far too broken and injured for her to stay alive after being revived.

Without himself even noticing, sitting beside her corpse, Virus had long sunk into a strange state as he continued watching her face quietly. True in a sense, he was frozen still.

This situation proceeded for a while, until at last, due to being disturbed by a shadow that had silently appeared beside him, he was forced to regain his awareness.

"Are you okay?" Said the shadow in a sad yet worried tone, having already spotted the corpse of the beauty.

Regaining his momentarily lost focus after being disturbed like this, Virus was somewhat surprised and even stunned for losing himself like that. Moreover, what caught him even more off-guard was the fact that he had softly placed his palm against Hu Yuexin’s beautiful face from an unidentified point in time.

Nonetheless, putting the matter aside for the moment, picking her up once again, Virus began walking in a random direction without responding to Atish’s concerned question at all.

And seeing him not answering her in any way, how could Atish not understand or empathize with his current grieving condition. Therefore, she didn’t insist on proceeding and instead simply offered her what she believed to be his, "Here. This is the bead that I extracted from the Plant Kraken. It rightfully belongs to you. Please take it before you leave. Also, I’m sorry for your loss."

Stopping in his tracks, Virus didn’t move for a while. A few seconds later, without turning back, he responded briefly, "You take it, I don’t need it."

With that, no longer bothering himself with her, he left as his silhouette disappeared from her line of sight.

Meanwhile, watching his vanishing back, many complex thoughts were going through Atish’s head. Complicated notions about the person called the Dark Savior.

’So he was here for her.’
