The Sacred Ruins

Chapter 291: Reunion

Before this, Chu Feng had been worried all the time. He had already known from the Donkey King that Yellow Ox was planning to attempt a forced breakthrough. This caused him to become quite restless with worry.

That was because although Yellow Ox appeared shrewd, he was still a child who hadn’t developed sufficiently. This kind of breakthrough consumed blood energy to sever one’s shackles—this might prove severely harmful to him.

Even the most meticulously nurtured inheritors of those great sects from the outer realms wouldn’t dare to attempt such an impetuous undertaking at such a young age.

"Yellow Ox, don’t be rash!" Chu Feng prayed in his heart. He could only hope Yellow Ox wouldn’t take this risk.

He knew the situation was dire—the two oxen had little choice other than to burn their boats.

The strong fragrance of the fruit on the stone tree assailed the senses. It was already fully ripe and ready for picking. It appeared grey and almost like a rock, but now that it reached the peak of its ripeness, a crack appeared on the fruit to reveal a bright red flesh within.

What kind of fruit was this?

No one present had ever witnessed stones bearing flowers and fruit. It was quite odd.

Chu Feng didn’t fear the suppressive force. He immediately walked up the fruit and picked it before handing it to the Horse King and the Weaver King.

Although these people had seen their fair share of strange flowers and fruits back at Mount Kunlun, they had never seen one made of stone.

The great demons of Kunlun felt bad accepting this fruit because, without Chu Feng, they would’ve been massacred by the White Shark King alone.

After seeing this, Chu Feng finally accepted the fruit without much modesty.

The White Shark had revealed his gigantic true form. Every piece of his fragmented body was like a small bloody hill.

Chu Feng studied the symbols at the base of the tree and pondered for some time. He even dug into the soil but found nothing strange. "Let’s go!"

He had to meet up with Yellow Ox and the rest.

The Horse King’s group led the way. They had previously met Yellow Ox within a certain ravine and weren’t sure if the latter had left or not.

Chu Feng was disappointed after rushing over towards the ravine because Yellow Ox had long since left.

"It seems they retreated." Chu Feng frowned.

"The marine race is determined to catch Yellow Ox and the rest," the Horse King informed. They had apparently sensed that the ones chasing them were ordinary king level entities, while the ones chasing after the two oxen were terrifying experts with six severed shackles like the Tiger Whale King and the White Shark King.

"You killed Hei Teng and offended the southern sea marine race. So many top-level kings had come out to capture Yellow Ox alive and bait you into rescuing them," the Weaver King explained.

Chu Feng nodded. Indeed, some of the marine race experts were chasing after the two oxen in order to deal with him.

However, since he had already come and had grown so much stronger, he couldn’t allow these people to act so unrestrainedly. He needed to find Yellow Ox as quickly as possible.

"You have to be careful. I suspect there is an expert with seven severed shackles that has appeared among the marine race experts. Otherwise, the vicious group of experts from the continent wouldn’t have been wounded so badly," the Horse King reminded. The bald man was over three meters tall and appeared rather crude. But there was also some refinement amidst his boorish nature.

"It’s highly likely." The Weaver King, clad in court attire, nodded in agreement. She had quite a sorry figure after coming to Mount Longhu this time and her body was soaked in blood. They would likely have perished if Chu Feng hadn’t arrived in time.

Chu Feng’s expression was solemn. An entity with seven severed shackles had appeared? Such a being would be absolutely terrible.

Naturally, this might not be the truth. This was, after all, just a speculation. None of them had actually seen the person in question.

"I hope I can find some astonishing mutant soil in this mysterious space!" Chu Feng was looking forward to it. If he could sever his sixth shackle, he wouldn’t be afraid even if a terrifying marine race entity appeared!

Chu Feng handed a few crystalline calabash seeds to the Horse King and Weaver King’s groups, instructing them to leave first. Most of the peerless experts behind them had already been cleared out and now was a good time to leave this place.

The current mysterious space was a battlefield for the peerless experts. The others might easily encounter mortal danger.

"Brother Chu, please be careful. I hope you can come visit Kunlun for a drink soon!" said the Horse King.

"Rest assured. We will immediately leave and invite the old llama over to reinforce you!" The Weaver King promised. The old llama was an unrivaled existence in their eyes.

"Very well. You all take care of yourselves!" Chu Feng reminded—it was best to be cautious even if the path behind was clear.

"How about me!?" The Donkey King was anxious because he also wanted to escape. He had always been afraid of death and was unwilling to stay here any longer.

This was especially true after the Tiger Whale King who had cut off his tail and the White Shark King who had chased after him were both killed. He had fulfilled his desire for vengeance and was now even less willing to remain here.

"Your speed is on par with the six severed shackles experts. Help me look for the two oxen." Chu Feng unceremoniously kept him back.

"Heehaw..." The Donkey King cried out loud. The gaze with which he looked at Chu Feng wasn’t kind but very soon he switched to a different tone and complained, "Moo Moo, woof, woof... Why?! I’ll only be killed like a bug if I stay back."

"Just don’t stray too far from me!" Chu Feng replied. He had the confidence because he could draw the Donkey King into the spatial bottle to keep him safe if needed.

In the end, the old donkey forced himself to set out dejectedly.

"Hey, be more diligent! The faster we find them, the faster we can leave this place," Chu Feng warned.

They split up to cover a wider area. Chu Feng didn’t even mind shouting out loud in his search. Finding Yellow Ox earlier was his top priority even if he had to draw the attention of enemy experts.

Unfortunately, they still couldn’t find them in the end by the time he met up with the donkey once again.

"I think there’s another type of possibility. They might be taking a risk to follow those peerless experts into the depths of this place. Isn’t it said that the most dangerous area is also the safest area?"

The Donkey King suddenly proposed such an idea.

"Are you sure?" Chu Feng was suspicious.

"I’m an escape specialist who values his life the most. Additionally, from my understanding of the Manchurian Tiger and old blackie, I know they will choose this path because great minds think alike."

"Ha! Great minds? You guys are definitely alike in terms of immorality and fear of death," Chu Feng replied. He was also guessing whether the two oxen really did head deeper into the mysterious space. Had they really gone into the most dangerous region?

That was because the top grade experts like the White Shark King and the Tiger Whale King were searching for them around the outer perimeter. The deeper regions might actually be relatively safer.

The target of the marine race experts wasn’t the two oxen after all.

In the deeper region, 800 kilometers out.

Yellow Ox was sitting cross-legged within a deep ravine. His clothes had all been torn apart and his whole body was stained with blood. His small face was flushed red as his blood energy surged wildly. The energy within his body was churning akin to a mountain flood or a damn on the verge of breaking.

The black yak was somewhat anxious. He paced about in the distance, acting as Yellow Ox’s dharma protector.

His heart couldn’t calm down. They had been pressed into a desperate corner after being hunted down continuously, coming close to death several times along the way.

Even though they had taken the risk to come into the deeper region and shaken off the White Shark’s group, they were far from safe. Any carelessness might lead to them being discovered by the marine race experts.

Although the marine race experts in this region weren’t hunting them specifically, they wouldn’t hesitate to make a move once an encounter occured.

The ones who had arrived in this region were all top level king level entities!

Just a while ago, the Manchurian Tiger had taken the risk to draw the attention of two experts with six severed shackles who were about to approach this place.

This time, the Manchurian Tiger was quite sincere. He didn’t betray them and was determined to put his life on the line.

"Roar..."

The furious roar of the Manchurian Tiger was transmitted from afar. He was several dozen kilometers away and seemed to have encountered trouble. He was locked in a fierce battle.

"Goddammit, your daddy will fight it out with you!" the black yak muttered as he gripped the Buddhist staff tightly and walked out of the ravine. He wanted to go and rescue the Manchurian Tiger.

He turned back and glanced at the dispirited Golden Condor and said, "Protect the calf well!"

In truth, the Golden Condor King was also in a bad shape. His wing was nearly torn off by someone and had lost the ability to fly.

He could hardly forget how terrifying that Sea God Tiger was. The latter had leapt into the air with surging killing intent and almost felled him with a single slap.

All of them would’ve died if Yellow Ox hadn’t used a Golden Arhat Talisman at the critical juncture.

However, his expression changed immediately after rushing out of the ravine. The sound of intense fighting was transmitted from afar and was closing in on this region.

"Things don’t look good!"

His expression turned extremely ugly—the continental and marine race experts were fighting a decisive battle and would soon arrive in the vicinity.

Yellow Ox was immobile at a critical phase and couldn’t move at all. He needed to make an all-out effort because he was still very young and his blood energy wasn’t vigorous enough. He couldn’t be distracted.

"Why did the experts who had gone into the deeper regions come back out!?" The black yak was furious.

"Brother Tiger, you have to hold on. I hope you can escape. I still need to protect Yellow Ox here!" The black yak stayed back with the staff in hand. He hid within the mountainous woods, ready to attack at a moment’s notice.

Very soon, he was shocked to see four or five people. A ferocious seahawk was flying through the skies and attacking a white crane in the distance.

In addition, a seagull was cooperating with this attack. Its body was huge and even more terrifying than a fighter plane. It broke through the sound barrier and produced loud explosions as it suppressed the white crane.

There were two more marine race experts on the ground. They would leap up from time to time in order to bombard the White Crane of the Mount Shu Sword Palace.

"Dammit, so many marine race experts!" The black yak despaired.

Boom!

The earth shook and the mountains swayed—a gigantic white snake staggered back in defeat, its body drenched in blood.

This was precisely the White Snake of Mount Taihang. Its body was previously cut into two but was forcefully reattached later on. It hadn’t quite recovered at this time from its grievous wounds and was now being chased down by two marine race experts in human form.

"Were out of luck!" The black yak’s face was almost green. He felt so hopeless and completely disheartened.

Such a situation meant everything was over and he couldn’t do anything to stop it.

Yellow Ox would definitely suffer damage if these people arrived near the valley.

The little brat was now surging with blood energy, risking his life to sever his shackle. He had reached a critical juncture.

Boom!

The White Crane had suffered a bad injury in the air. Feathers flew in all directions as it crashed into the mountainous terrain, its whole body covered in blood.

It had long since been wounded by a powerful killer weapon. Now after being attacked by a group of experts, it could hardly hold on.

"Eh? There are some stray fish within the valley?" One of the pursuing marine race experts had sharp senses. Especially since Yellow Ox was surging with blood energy and on the final sprint towards a breakthrough, he couldn’t hide his aura and was immediately discovered.

A human-shaped marine race expert laughed loudly and turned towards the valley to kill.

"Damn your mother, this daddy will fight it out with you!" The black yak roared. He leapt out with Buddhist staff in hand. His body was emitting a bright radiance which grew even more intense as he chanted.

Boom!

He struck at the marine race expert with the momentum capable of sweeping through a thousand soldiers.

Chu Feng could see this blinding light from a great distance. He saw the vague image of a golden arhat appear within the mountainous woods.

Boom!

The forest exploded as Chu Feng raised his speed. He immediately rushed over, knowing what the image represented. It was the black yak’s group activating the Buddhist staff in desperation.

He approached to see the black yak flying out with blood spurting out of his nose and mouth. The staff had also left his hands.

What situation was this? There were actually so many marine race experts. Chu Feng was astonished.

"You’re all courting death!" Chu Feng loudly roared. He crossed a couple of kilometers with a single leap and tore through the air.
